ANTIBES PREPARES TO HOST OPENING ROUND OF THE 2016 PANERAI CLASSIC YACHTS CHALLENGE CIRCUIT

May 2016

Taking place between June 1 and 5 2016, Les Voiles d’Antibes will, as per tradition, be the opening round on the PCYC Mediterranean Circuit. This is one of the most eagerly-awaited events of the classic sailing season as it allows crews to meet up, renew old friendships and, of course, discover all the new entries in the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge.

That said, Les Voiles d’Antibes is also an exceptionally exhilarating regatta due both to the prevailing weather conditions in the Gulf, and the plethora of events organised each evening on the dockside and in the bars and cafes of Antibes’s old town centre.

The big question in everyone’s minds is whether the yacht that wins at Antibes will also take the coveted Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge trophy. It’s far from a given but each and every crew will most definitely be pulling out all the stops as every stage can be pivotal to taking the top step of the podium.
There will be huge interest in the Big Boat category, not merely because of the imposing beauty of these striking yachts but also the very welcome return to the circuit of the lovely Cambria, the 1928 William Fife recently resplashed after almost a year of restoration.

The first of the 2016 Challenge of Challenges also takes place on Friday, June 4, during the Les Voiles D’Antibes. This is a special race for boats of the same class and is the case of Antibes, will feature Epoque (Vintage) craft. To find out more on how to enter and for the rules, click here...
