50 CLASSIC SAILING BEAUTIES TO GATHER FOR THE ARGENTARIO SAILING WEEK, THE SECOND STAGE OF THE PANERAI CLASSIC YACHTS CHALLENGE

June 2016

Just a few days after the conclusion of Les Voiles d’Antibes, the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge moves to Tuscany in Italy for the 17th edition of the Argentario Sailing Week, the second round on its Mediterranean Circuit. Between June 14 and 19, in fact, the town of Porto Santo Stefano welcomes a fleet of around 50 craft that will do battle at the traditional regatta organised annually by the Yacht Club Santo Stefano in partnership with Officine Panerai.

The three scheduled races will be held between Friday and Sunday, but will be preceded on Wednesday, June 15, by the Trofeo Vele d’Argento, a coastal race along a route that straddles the beaches of Giannella, Talamone and the islands of Giglio and Giannutri. The Trofeo is a new addition to the Argentario Sailing Week and offers the classic fleet the opportunity to race on longer courses than the traditional triangles. The prize-giving for the Trofeo Vele d’Argento takes place at a cocktail party at the Yacht Club Santo Stefano on Thursday, June 16.

As is the case every year, the Italian Navy will be competing several of its historic sailing yachts which are used during the summer season for training cruises for Naval Academy cadets.

Needless to say, also at Porto Santo Stefano will be Panerai’s own ambassador, the Bermudan ketch Eilean.
