More than seventy classic yachts have confirmed their attendance at the renowned regatta in the solent

After a series of successful racing in the Mediterranean, Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge (PCYC) finally reaches British shores for its only UK leg of the circuit in Cowes, Isle of Wight. Panerai British Classic Week takes place from 18th – 25th July 2015.

This year marks a historic milestone as the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes is celebrating its 200th anniversary which has attracted a record number of 70 confirmed classic yachts from around the world – an impressive entry list including some of the most famous grande dames of the sea!

Leading the international visitors are French America’s Cup legend Bruno Troublé who will skipper the yacht ‘Jour de Fête’ from 1930, as well as beautiful ‘Eleonora’ which at just 50m long is the largest yacht entered this year. Also returning to the UK coast will be the spectacular 29m long ‘Mariquita’, built in 1911 by renowned Scottish boat yard Fife which also built Eilean, the Bermudan ketch acquired and restored by Officine Panerai.

Other notable competitors this year include the oldest yacht of the regatta, the delightful ‘Jap’ from 1897 who was also winner of the Panerai British Classic Week in 2012; or the Modern Classic ‘Soufriere’, which famously starred in the 2006 James Bond movie Casino Royale

The winning yacht in each class will be awarded a Panerai watch, courtesy of the Florentine luxury sports watchmaker which is sponsoring the leading international classic sailing circuit for the 11th consecutive year.
